Microsoft Dynamics GP will install from it's CD with no issues, Microsoft has made sure of that, the problem is, where do you go once you install the software? When should you start thinking contingency planning? We think that that should be well in hand even before you install the software. Too often do we simply install an application from a disk and let the software just take a run and accept the settings and environment as installed. Apart from some of the obvious considerations, such as disk size, database licenses and timing, we believe that some planning at this point can alleviate major and even catastrophic headaches in the future. Database Considerations

• SQL Server - enterprise class, highly available, advanced reporting, odbc & ole capable
• SQL Server Express (MSDE) - lightweight, same as Standard SQL with size and memory limits
• BTree - lightweight filesystem database, fast, reliable, no odbc capabilities
• CTree - lightweight filesytem database, no odbc capabilities

• Windows XP Pro can run Great Plains in smaller environments with MSDE or Btree
• Sharepoint Portal Server can host several Dynamics GP Modules and Dashboards
